Hello to any one in here.
I need te recall the attention of members in here . I own a Mercedes Benz 200E , chassis W124 of 1990 . Problems occours always wen i try to start engine M102 , 4L . When is too hot there's is a smell of fuel and if i turn of the engine , after 10 minutes it won't start reagularly. I have to try for three or four times to have succes starting. ALSO i have replaced the sparks (BERU) , the spark plugs (BERU) , i have checked the ignition control module and i have applied to it surfaces the heat compound transfer silicon . I have checked also the both fuel pumb relay and OVP . In this second one i have resoldered the pins because they're damaged previously . Now i don't know what to do anymore . Help is needed as well . BEST REGARDS TO ALL .

Hi,

When you eventually get it to start is there a puff of black smoke?

Hi
There's no smokes at all . I heard today about FPR-fuel pressure regulator wich can have some immportan role on this matter (wich i don't know).

Thank you ADAM

The symptoms you describe would indicate the engine is receiving too much fuel. This would "flood" the engine preventing the plugs from firing. This can happen for several reasons but usually because the fuel injection system "thinks" the engine is still cold after its warmed up, or a part of the injection system continuously supplies too much fuel. There are several sensors and injection components which may cause this fault. Its almost impossible to say which one/s without examining the car directly. this may be of help? Auto-Solve Diagnostic Assistance

One item that fails frequently is the Warm Up Regulator

Is there a coolant temperature sensor on these engines?

Not on the Jetronic K they have bimetalic thermo-electric switches. On the Jetronic KE there is a coolant temperature sensor that feeds data to the engine ECU

I have checked everything in practic during this week .
The fuel pump , the fuel pump relay , the igniton control module , the air flow sensor , the fuel accumulator and the fuel pressure regulator . Also changed the fuel filter . ALSO reading carefully the technical article , i have noted on my car the fuel goes down in FPR after a while . Now i have to replace both FPR and the fuel accumulator to see what will happen next .
THank you all

My money's on the accumulator

Now i have to replace both FPR and the fuel accumulator to see what will happen next.

I had an identical problem on my 1986 190E, fixed by replacing the accumulator.

Thanks to all participants .

After a several checks , ideas and discussions in this Mercedes benz forum i finally resolved successefully my problem . All starting problems of engine in my Mercedes Benz 200E were caused from damned "Fuel Accumulator" wich never pressures the fuel on it's lines . As i have consulted several indications from all of YOu in this forum , my OLD fuel accumulator leaks the fuel in both directions . For my saftey now i will replace also the "Fuel Pressure Regulator" with a new one , since this two parts works in group for pressuring the fuel . When this two parts are in perfect condition the critical time between 5 and 20 minutes , after switching off the engine , will not give a miniimal problem in next engine start .

A biggest thanx to all in here .
