Hi,

My blower fan switch only works on settings 0-3, on 4 it is the same as on 3. I have no AC.

MB dealer suggests I replace the switch assembly etc, estimated at £150.

Any other ideas. It's not a problem in the summer, but sometimes need the extra blast in the winter!

Thx

Just a thought but why dont you try some scrap yards.I know local one's near to me usually have these type of cars in abundance when Ive visited them in the past.Similar items I have purchased in the past have only cost a few pounds. An tenth of the cost of a new Item.

Hi there lucky motorist blower works at least! I have just stripped down the blower heater system in my audi A4 from switch on dash to the blower motor located under the passenger glove compartment. there you will find an elecrical connector divided into four, one for each of the blower positions. If you pull this out fron the left hand side of the blower box you can check for power to the fan with the ignition on and by turning the 1,2,3,4, switch control on the dash. if the power reaches this point there is a component here which costs about £15.00 (a resistor). Inside of the motor are some brushes which cost about £5.00(worth changing these too). Alternatively if you have no power at the four point connector on each of the four points remember to turn the swich to 1 then check place on 2 then check 3 etc. As i have just discovered after stripping down the whole dash, the problem is more than likely at the fan itself check this end first which is accessible under the pass glove comp. 8mm socket a torch and a fair bit of patience to remove the glove compartment to access the fan and its connectors. hope this helps and good luck

Hi there, may be able to help as i have just stripped down the whole heater blower system to locate the blower not working. Firstlt i would check if power is getting to the blower itself, there is a fourway connector which is plugged into the plasic fan box which is located behind the passenger glove compartment. you may be able to reach up behind the Glove comp to get to this (located on left). prob better to remove the glove comp (8mm socket to remove the small securing bolts). Once the GC is out of the way you can gat to the box, and it sounds to me that the resistor or the brushes will need replacing (resistor £12.00, brushes £5.00). The fan itself can be accessed inside the plastic box Before looking to replace these two components you an do a simple electrical test (need a meter or friend electrician who has one), The four way connector mentioned earlier receives power from the dash 4 way switch (1, 2, 3, 4 settings). With the ignition on it is possible to check if power is reaching the fan blower, if no power here then the dash swich is the problem which is tricky to access, let me know if this helps or can give info on dash dismantling good luck :thumb:

Hi my fan is working on all 4 settings but the air is not flowing to any area when you turn the switch to change from screen to floor etc. When the recirculation switch is on the fan roars but no air comes out regardless where the switch is set
