W124 230TE price advice sought

Knobby ride could be down to the rear spheres on the self levelling going down. I think you will find £5k usually refers to 6 cylinder petrol or diesel cars in a nice metallic with alloys sunroof leather aircon etc etc think you are pretty much on the money with £2-2.5k His nephew is either greedy or misinformed People put too much weight on low mileage- can create more problems than its worth --- exhaust rusting thro from inside, seals going hard , tyres way out of" use by "date calipers seizing, fluids going hygroscopic et etc. If you are keen on the car I would go back and try to re -educate him as to where he has got the wrong idea about its value. Give it a thorough inspection body wise in particular as this is where its intrinsic value lies. If its pristine underneath- which I very much doubt- and there are no glaring faults then you might stretch to £2.5k but it is a low spec car and since originality is all in these cars there's nothing much you can do except slap a decent set of alloys/tyres on it and tidy the paintwork/trim.
