Well Guys

I finally swapped the crappy aftermarket springs and my Bilstein HDs for the the Sportline springs and Bilstein B4 Sportline shocks.:bannana:

OMG what a difference WTF didnt i do this the first time around instead of faffing around with various spring and shock combo's over the last few years.
I am running single notch spring pads to drop the car a little without making it look slammed. The ride is much better and far more focussed. Cornering is better even with the std ARB's. Next up the sportline ARB's front and rear.

I want to say thanks to the guys on the forum who have helped me navigate the infamous 124 Coupe suspension minefield. Your input and advice has been invaluable.:thumb:

Anyway I have some 12 month old Bilstein HD's (approx 4000miles)for a w124 Coupe/Saloon for sale, if anyone is interesed PM me.

Cheers

Paul

Difficult to beat the original!

Glad to hear Paul.

Come on Guy`s,when we`re gona have the next meet

When - can do any Sunday until Mid November (14/21) then the rest until mid December.

Should we do a pre Christmas one than?

It would be sensible, otherwise it would probably be April earliest next year.

I'm free for any weekend up to and including 13/14 Nov. After that The Festering Season starts to waste my time.
Charles I'll come down in my 24v 300D so you can have a drive of that as promised. Anyone else is welcome to have a drive too.
I should also have my new amp/speaker fitted by then too. Test drives of the sound system also welcome.

i'd offer our place but it's more of a summer venue and I will schedule one for 2011 and hopefully no double bookings this time :-)

Well count me in for a meet. Hmmmmm do I bring my 300-24? :D :ban:

Hi Paul,

Been reading this with great interest as I am keen to do the same on my 1995 E220 Azurite Blue Coupe. Where did you buy the Sportline springs and Bilstein B4 Sportline shocks from and did it cost loads to get them fitted? (I might do it myself if it isn't horrendously complex). I'm running the budget through my head at the moment, the car needs to be dropped! Many thanks.

if you go sportline you will only get 20mm drop, if you want 30mm go H&R or Eibach, if you want to go 40mm drop suggest the b12 bilstein kit, well received on this forum.
for me the shocks were purchased from motorsportworld.co.uk seemed the cheapest when googling the Bilstein codes. you can put in your car details and it will list the shocks, B4 are the std sportline, B6 and B8 are the more expensive higher performance shocks and the price reflects that.
springs cost £65 (fronts) and £54 (rears) plus vat each genuine mercedes (via my independant). Labour was 3.5 hours at my merc independant. Not a cheap exercise but the outcome is just what I wanted and I am happy with the results. I havent quoted part codes as your car will be lighter at the front end being a 220. also you can alter the ride height with spring pads. see below

201-321-09-84 - Front, 1-point (8mm)
201-321-10-84 - Front, 2-point (13mm)
201-321-11-84 - Front, 3-point (18mm)
201-321-12-84 - Front, 4-point (23mm)

201-325-09-44 - Rear, 1-point (8mm)
201-325-10-44 - Rear, 2-point (13mm)
201-325-11-44 - Rear, 3-point (18mm)

I hope this helps,

Hi Paul, this is really helpful thanks. I had been on the motorsport world site too, so good to see you got it all there. I had a peek at the gallery pics of your C124 and the ride looks spot on, especially with the 16s. Cheers for all the part numbers too.
