Carpets out, drivers seat out, rear seats out and three kitchen rolls later, the floor and cross members are dry....even had to peal off some of the sound proofing to get at residual water.

Unlike the usual sources, water seems to be entering via the rear window seal, travelling down the inside of the rear quarter panel and out through a large opening at the bottom near where the seatbelt fixes to the body. Inside the opening is some sponge that soaks up a lot of the water so that it only drips once saturated.

Question - has anyone experiences the same issue or able to offer a solution?

Thanks

I can't offer a fix but the 124 coupe's big brother, the 126 coupe, suffers the same problem. The perceived wisdom is the lack of a B pillar allows the body to flex and this causes the rear screen seal to leak.

The 126 is famous for the steel rear parcel shelf turning to iron oxide because of this, so it may be worth sticking your head in the boot and having a look at yours.

Thanks and yes I understand the rear screen is structural. I wasn't cleat, apologies, i meant the rear passenger window. The water is coming is at where the bottom of the B pillar would be if the car had one.
