Hi,

I needed some headlamp wiper blades alongside the motor and hoses. My washers are knackerd on one side. Cant find it anywhere, isit worth getting it from MB Direct?

Any help appreciated, many thanks

M-B is probably your best bet for new blades. You should be able to get a motor from a breaker. Hose you can get from anywhere.

ive tried breakers and no luck, can somebody point me in the right direction :dk:, when i mean hose i mean from the spray piece which squirts the washer fluid onto the headlight

I expect M-B will be able to sell you a new motor, but at a list price of £111 I'd be questioning whether it's really worth it. I've had two W124s, one with headlamp wash/wipe and the other without. On the one that didn't, the headlamps didn't get particularly dirty. One the one that did, all the washers seemed to do was squirt dirty water down the wings...

The parts you need are here and here, and you can look up prices and order online here.

I think that both the wiper blade and motor are the same as a W126 if you can find one of those in the breakers yard.

hose to the headlamps is cheap at £2.00 a meter or so very cheap ask for 014 997 77 82

you can probably do what i did for my SL....

get a cheapo wiper from PoundLand or whereever, and cut it to size..... it doenst matter if it smears or squeeks a bit on a light....

for the W124, you can dismantle and repair the motors. i've done this on mine. most likely is the cogs inside are seized. clean them up, grease them and put it back together and it will probably be fine.

tip; check it works before refitting light just incase it doesnt.

verify the motor works by putting 12v direct to it and it should spin. if it does, its easy from there.

use a flat bladed screwdriver to prise off the motor cover. if they break, which they can often do due to brittle plastic, then re-enforce with some cable ties.

:thumb: hope it helps.

Yay.
I have been waiting for this post.
Only cause my ns wiper has stopped and I seem to post loads.
I don't want to appear a pain in the rear bumper lol.
I shall try the motor rebuild option also. My local breaker has no alternatives in lately.

Cheers guys

I have the complete wiper blade and motor from my donor car for both sides . will you be interested? from a w124 1995 face uplift model

I am afraid that is not fit to my '94 w124......I guess...

But thanks anyway

When i faceuplifted my w124 300d 1986 model in 1996 I noticed that there were a few rubber seals around behind the front headlamp panels. I applied silcion greace on them before assemby . I read someway on the internet that the headlamp wiper motor get ceased up very quickly when water creeps through these seals and into the motor itself . Furthermore I only use a bit of dish washer rinse aid and normal condensor tumble dryer water in my wind screen bottle. Until now I have no trouble with my headlamp washer motor.

So lads when you replace your head lamp washer motor make sure you check thse seals are serviceable, and also the grommet( where the wiper shaft comes out) on the headlamp panel is water tight. use only silicon grease as other grease may attach the rubber and make it worse. Otherwise your motor will not last long once the water from your washer travels along the motor shaft and into the motor. Go to the russian website and get a diagram of where the seals are. I brought mines from MZ dealer , pennies only but the breakers wanted a fiver for the seals .

'Silver Saloon' gave some excellent advice on 17 Dec. I have removed the headlamp wiper motor from my W126, put 12v across the motor and it spins ok. However, I found re-assembly very tricky and I can't turn the shaft by hand (even when firmly gripped with pliers).

Is there something obvious I'm missing or doing wrong? The internal cogs all looked in good condition with plenty lubricant. I'd appreciate any advice to get this working again. Thanks

Well I was having a good day till I tried to fix the motor.
I've found half the motor mech missing.
Previous owner I guess.
And during refitting the indicator I managed to seperate the indicator lens from the housing!!!! Tried and failed twice at fixing it (super glue then sillicon sealant didn't work)
And managed to drive over the damn thing with my back wheel!!!!!!!!

So back to the breakers for a scavenge again. I've got a little shopping list now lol.
Gutted though :0(

Every cloud so they say!!!?!

On way to breakers to hunt for an indicator lens I caught the attention of a local policeman who informed me that I had lost a lens. Ok I suppose and thanks very much officer. I explained that I was going to get a replacement at the time, so he also gave me three points for a semi illegal tyre (I wouldn't have thought it illegal although it was very low)
However I managed to secure a lens from eBay for a tenner! As breakers remaining 2 w124's had been picked clean. And a brand new tyre for £20 fitted so not all lost.

Shame about the three points though. Twi was only just level but he insisted it was wrong and it is lower than the legal limit now.

Hmmmmmm

The law of sod stikes again. You did very well to get the lens for a tenner and £20 for a new tyre fitted is also a bargain (depending on the make and amount of tread left).

I paid £30 for a W126 headlamp as the breaker would not split the lens. He did however include the wiper motor which in itself is a valuable spare to carry.

The 3 points does seem harsh and I wonder if he could not have exercised a more lenient approach (replace within 24 hrs?) and still achieved his objective. Sounds as if he needed to issue more tickets.
