W124 on classic car insurance?

Well, I did the Adrian Flux quote page and just got an email with a premium of £124. Which is a bit of a spooky coincidence...:)

Will pester Carole Nash next.

My 1992 W124 300E is insured with Lancaster for £110 per year - I've used them for about 3 years now. When I had the W123 it was around £80 per year.

I'm not sure the NCD applies with classic insurance - as long as you're a named driver on a 'normal' car policy, that's all they require - I think - but I stand to be corrected.
E320 W124 estate - 5k per annum limit, not garaged, agreed value, £268 (I think), £250 excess, with Classicline, who I've been with for about 10 years. They'll cover anything over 10 years old, plus anything newer but 'interesting' - my Alpina is 2001, but is on the same classic policy.

I remember doing some quotations about this. You need to have the car garaged at night and be part of the MB Club to qualify.
Secondly, it depends on the W124 engine. The 230 and 300 qualified but not the new multivalve 220, 280, 320 engines.
Thirdly, mileage has to be very low and possibly on social & pleasure use only?

Another point to add is to buy a magazine such as Mercedes Enthusiast etc and look at the adverts that specialise in classic Merc insurance.

Just a follow-up to say that I got the car ('93 280E) and it's now on a classic policy through Adrian Flux at £124.46. 3000m a year (which is fine as it's one of 3 and I don't commute), parked on drive and no NCD to use (that's used on my daily, an Aygo)

And finally, Lancaster - who did the policy for my just-sold '87 190 2.3-16 - would NOT cover this car.
