Hi All,

My SRS light is on due to the fact my interior is from a car that did not have SRS. There is only one connector under the seat for the seat belt sensors rather than two. I have been told that i can stick a 3.5 ohm resistor over the two wires that normally go into the second (red) seat belt sensor connector to mimic the existence of the sensor and then reset the SRS to switch the light off. Is this correct or shall i just live with the light being on constantly??

Regards,

K

Hi,
Can,t you just remove the parts from your old seats and fit them to your new ones?

I dont have my old seats anymore :( but from what i recall there was alot of work involved in removing the parts needed there was a pressure pad that lets the SRS box and a lot of windy wiring going all over the place.

Oh well might try the resistor trick this weekend i'll let you guys knw how it goes.

Is the connector a straight two pin jobbie?

On my W209 the connector has three pins so working out where the resistor would have fitted was more aggravation than dis-assembling the seat

Straight two pin jobbie, so the resistor would go over the 2 points.

update:

I made a code reader following instructions from another post on this forum. The codes produced as follows:

* Driver Airbag Squib (R12/3) missing due to changed steering wheel (will replace soon)
* Driver seat belt buckle switch missing due to changed interior
* Front Passenger seat belt buckle switch missing due to changed interior
* Voltage supply ????
* SRS warning lamp (A1e15)

Ok so this weekend I'm going to switch back to my old steering wheel (until I get a boss which can mimic there being a airbag present, I know momo do one) and I'm also going to try the resistor trick to fool the SRS into thinking the seat belt sensors are present. I will report back on how I get on.

P.S i'm also going to try and write a program which can read and display/clear fault codes for the X11/4 connector, using an arduino as the interface between car and laptop.
more updates as i get on with it (total cost should be about £30)

update:

Today i replaced the original steering wheel with airbag and reset code, i am now left with just two fault codes; both front seat belt buckles. After an hour of faffing about with resistors, i finally gave up and have now bought to new genuine seat belt buckles, as soon as they arrive i will install and clear codes and i will be rid of that SRS light :D i think it will just make selling the car easier if i were to sell ;) (anyone interested in it ?? )

Thanks for reading, will update again once parts arrive and are installed.

:thumb:RESULT !!!!

New seat belt buckles arrived yesterday i fitted them today and cleared all codes on SRS, and WOO HOO no more SRS light (well its on for like 3 secs after starting the engine but thats it)

Nice :thumb:

PS all could have been avoided if i done what Andy said higher up in this thread, but i sold my old seats 2 years ago, didnt realise they were easy to remove back then.

reset SRS light

Hi, this is my first post. I replaced one of my rear seat belt buckles on my 2005 C 180 Kompressor and the SRS light is on. Can anyone tell me how to reset it without going to a MB dealership. My local garage said they would have a try if they knew where the multi plug connector was located.

Can anyone give me advice.

Many thanks
Mandy

Hi,
Has anyone ever swapped the wiring out of an SRS equipped seat into a pre SRS seat?
If so is it a big job?
Thanks

SRS light on

Don't think this is a hijack of the thread as it's SRS related. I have just swapped the interior out of a W124 estate scrapper into the E250D estate keeper. The keeper has the driver's airbag and front seatbelt tensioners only. The donor had these plus passenger airbag and seat buckle plugs. As the keeper has no wiring for the seat buckle or passenger airbag, and I haven't disturbed any of the other items I'm puzzled as to why my SRS light stays on (after going off briefly when starting up). I have swapped steering wheels and airbags, but I've also tried swapping back in the old airbag with no change. All the connections are good. Only possibility I can think of is battery voltage as mentioned earlier in this thread, but I haven't heard of this a culprit before. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if that fault code (which is now logged) needs to be deleted.

SRS light on

Thanks for your feedback, and for anyone else who findsthemselves in this situation. In fact I had inadvertently and unknowingly re connected the batery more than once whilst working on the car with the contact spiral andairbag both removed (over a period of around 2 weeks). The SRS module didn't like this. I couldn't get a signal from PIN 6 on my diagnostic plug with my LED blink tester (works fine on a E280T) so asked MB Europa (Suffolk Rd., Sheffield) to plug it in. Their STAR system mimics the old HHT machine, and, after some fiddling, reset the module. Now sorted.

Moral of story; never touch any of the SRS system bits without the key out and the battery off, and never reconnect or insert the key whilst bits are unconnected.
