My first post here, I am from across the pond.

Looking to maybe installing some W220 wheels onto my 94 coupe, below is chart comparing my stock wheels with those of the S class. Can anyone shed some light as to whether or not they will fit without modifying or damaging my sheet metal? Many thanks.

The look I am going for but I cant tell from pictures if rear wheel would make contact with fender and if the fenders have been rolled. I think that this is the 18" version of the same wheels I want.

Welcome to the forum.

I think et41 is the maximum offset for a w124 wheel, any more and they will hit the struts. Also the s class wheels might use a larger type of wheel bolts...

the top line looks odd - i think you have your offsets mixed up..

The 17x7.5 will more be ET 35, and the ET 46 is the 15x6.5.

if the S class ones are the 17's you refer to, they will fit your coupe.

Thanks for the reply. No the offsets are correct. Will it still fit?

You need to say what design wheel you are talking about.

For example the original wheels for 94 coupe would be 8 hole alloy.

The size was 15x6.5 et44 standard.

For sport-line chassis cars, the size was: 15x7 et41.

8 hole alloys did come in other sizes for other cars ie. 210 129 140 etc

You might be right about the ET....I am reading conflicting information on the internet about the ET.

Here are my original wheels:

Thanks. You were correct I confirmed, my stock wheels are 15 x 6.5 ET 44

I am really torn between three wheel styles, the deciding factor will be if they actually fit.

I love the AMG Aero I, but they are not so easy to come by. The Aero II is nice but all too common.

That leaves me with either the S/CL600 wheels or perhaps the AMG turbine wheels. I see photos of both the wheels I am interested in on cars, but I have yet to be able to discover what modifications if any were made to run them. If anyone has any information I would appreciate it.

There is a set of aero 1 wheels for sale in the for sale section on this very forum....

Apart from the ET problems, S class wheels generally have a high offset and will rub w124 suspension on the inside, there is also the problem that s class wheels use m14 wheel bolts vs the w124 using m12 wheel bolts. The m12 bolts have a slightly different sized bowl (for want a better description) that sits within the wheel.

I dare say bolts are available to overcome the issue, but may be expensive.

I tried to fit a spare set of w124 wheels on my w124....there was just no way. everything was wrong.

Thank you, I just saw them, they look gorgeous as does the car. Unfortunately I would imagine shipping would be prohibitively expensive to the USA.

Those pics of the s124 with the turbine wheels look glorious. If you can make a se of those work, thats what I'd go for. They look incredible. It looks like they have stretched the tyres to make them work, which would mean curbing is pretty much guaranteed, but they look so good, it might be worth it.

I have a set of Brabus IVs sitting in my shed waiting for my s124, and they are look pretty good on the w124 and might be an option if you can find a set?
