Does anyone know if the fuel tank in my '89 420SEL has any sort of drain on it?

Or will I need to syphon/remove and turn upside down to get the remaining fuel out?

Cheers, Martin

There is almost always a large hex key drain plug on older mb's but that said I've never noticed any access to it underneath a w126.

Hello

I have a 1986 500 sec, I don't have one on mine the only way out is through the inlet

Hope this helps

I dont remember anything like that underneath the tank but the pipe down to the fuel pumps can be disconnected and the fuel will gush out from there.

Good call, hadn't thought of doing that! Cheers!

disconnect cold start injector line, attach rubber hose, put the other end in your fuel container of choice, remove fuel pump relay and bridge pins 7 & 8 on socket. That should empty the tank quite quickly without the need to get underneath the car as the hose from tank to pumps isnt the most accesible.

When I broke my pal's 420 SE , I just cut the rubber hose to the fuel tank and collected the fuel in cans - this was easy enough without raising the car .

I just put a clamp over the hose until the end was in the can , used a 1gal can under the car and transferred to 5 gal jerrycans with minimal spillage .
