Had my 300SE for nearly a week now and am still finding things that don't work. I thought the only significant gizmo that had packed in was the sunroof and decided I was happy to live without it.

However, with a fugged up rear window this morning, I discovered that my rear screen heater doesn't appear to work either. When I press the switch on the dash it illuminates but there's no sign of any demisting going on at the back.

I'm not a tinkerer or fettler and will only attempt the simplest of car DIY jobs, but I just wondered if this might be something as simple as a fuse. If the fuse had gone, would the switch still illuminate?

If not the fuse, I'm guessing it could be the wiring or connectors to the rear screen. There's no sign of damage to the rear screen itself so I'm hoping the elements are fine.

Can anyone advise any simple checks I can carry out to diagnose the problem?

the connectors are under the trim on the C pillar, the only way to check it would be to see if there is power at the connector.

Bear in mind that the mist on rear screens this time of year is outside not inside and it does take a long time to effectively dry off the rear screen using the demister

That's what I thought it was at first but sadly, a wipe with a cloth said otherwise ... :(
