a friend had a hard top fitted it got sucked in upon release it bounced back, anybody has any ideas, what noticed on the hard top latches are missing the black rubber can somebody advise this could be the fault, and can the rubbers be bought separately and how much the cost etc.

the hard top is perfect it is just the beeping and not continuing to be sucked that is the problem, any help much appreciated:wallbash:

Beeping from the roof mechanism normally means it's not happy about something. First thing to try is to pop the hardtop off, cycle the soft top and then try again.

If it still persists further investigation needed - perhaps a sensor or switch. But in my ownership the few issues I've encountered with the roof have all been solved by starting again.

we tried all that and lubricated everything but the same problem i wonder if the plastic cover on the hardtop is needed for full lock, as it get pulled down by as soon as u release the switch the roof pop off marginally and the beep start on drive.

i wonder if this part can be bought separately with plastic moduled on, probably cheaper to buy another hard top to get it off

You are fitting it with the doors open? I think you get that 'bounce back' and tone if a door is closed.

doors are closed admitted we never tried with doors open but drivers window was open, the front latches has plastic on the clips but are missing i wonder if need the clips changed to ones with plastic

Per the handbook both doors must be OPEN when fitting the hard top - that's your problem, I've done it myself.

Looks like mine is broken, being especially compliant or didn't read that bit in the manual then

Put the hardtop on last Saturday, only the drivers door was open.

Bill, mine goes on without having both doors open, just the driver's door. I can't do mine any other way as I have a hoist above the car and the passenger side is up against the garage wall.

Maybe you can get away with one door being open, but the OP said "doors are closed".

I've had this issue myself, and it was sorted by opening the doors ... after reading the handbook :o
