W202 Climate Control Question

When I set temp to 18 c, the blower chucks out cold air and the fans say max but the air is not exactly messing your hair up with the force its coming out of the vents.( You can hear the fans are working quite hard) Is this normal or should I be checking something. The system was re-gassed in Feb so shouldn't be anything to do with that...

try changing the pollen filter.

do a search on the how to.

Yep - pollen filter sounds likely, certainly made a difference on mine when I changed it

remove it and run it without in the meantime , see if it makes any diference

Bought a new pollen filter and replaced this morning. Now have loads of cold air coming out. Thanks guys for your info. BTW, couldn't get the back clip on the thing that holds the filter in. Should I persevere at a later date or is this not a problem.

take the filter back out again and try to reseat it , sounds like its not quite in right.

Its prob a good idea to do this as it creates the seal in the system , you will loose some pressure if you don't have the clips on right.

Just read the HOW TO relating to this post, but was wondering.. does the same apply to the W210? I seem to have the same problem. Also.. does anyone know the rough cost of a new pollen filter?

Its an easy job on the W210. I think I paid about £20 for the filter from the dealer but I think they are cheaper from Eurocarparts. Don't know what the HOW TO says, but you have to take off the cover in the passenger footwell (under the glove box), slide the clips, lever off the filter cover (its obvious which it is when you look a the new filter element) and lever/pull out the old element. As you pull it out note which way round it is, as I think they are not quite symettrical. Refit is the reverse operation.

I got a filter from euromerc on ebay..Buy it now price was £12.99. I think the dealers charge about £30
