Ive just cooked the battery in my w202, have now replaced the battery and ive no revs, on a good rev get no more than 2000rpm, car can hardly move. Is there a sensor or something thats went, the engine is also very warm?
Any ideas.. sensors, filters, something more major??

Thanks

Dont know!! All the acid has burnt out it! Created a nice smell for all my neighbours! Im desperate for a solution now... car is now off road and ive no way of getting to work in the morning!

Leave the ignition on for 30 mins. I think the throttle flap has lost its parameters. The reason why its cooked could be a duff alternator. Have you a muli-meter?

Yes ive got a multimeter, what can i check? Car wont sit for 30mins, just keeps stalling as it loses revs.

Dont run the engine just leave the ignition on in position two.

As Olly suggests it could be a duff alternator - if the regulator goes the alternator voltage just keeps rising with engine revs (normally voltage across the battery should max out at 14.5ish when you rev the engine if it screems up to 16+ you have a problem). Best to check this with the meter before driving too far (assuming the 30 min suggestion helps).

Ok, Ive tried the 30 minute thing and its made no difference. It still starts but just loses revs and cuts out straight away, after doing it maybe 12 times, when the engine is getting warm it sits and ticks over as normal but then as soon as i use the accelerator or select drive it just dies again!
Any suggestions?
