W202 fault code reader

Only problem left is I cannot do the upgrades.

I have a new computer without a comms port so I bought a converter cable to USB as the scanner is a comms connecter.

When I run the programme I am getting
Quote We are connecting...

Communication is failure!

NOTICE:

Step1: Connect the electric cable with right COM, but please DON'T POWER ON.

Step2: Drop the button of update.

Step3: Power on your memoscanner.

So it obviously doesn't like USB conversion ( back to the drawing board)

All sorted had to go into Device Manager and change some settings.

So the scanner is finding fault codes plus other things mentioned earlier, clearing faults and allowing the scanner to be updated.

That's excellent! So, you've got a fully (?) functioning fault code reader/resetter for about £50. Bargain!

Don't suppose it can reset the service interval aswell?

I reckon that's got to jump to near the top of my shopping list....

Dave
You can reset that without this scanner,if you want to know how to do it let me know

This is how it is done in case any other W202 people want it.
1 put the key in the ignition and turn it to position 2.

2 Press the mileage reset button twice so that the FSS countdown appears.

3 Turn the key back to off position.

4 Press and hold the reset button while turning the key back to position 2.
Keep holding the button until you hear a beep.

FSS gone.

In the live data section, does it give you real time temperature measurements for each of the air vents in the car? i.e. for testing functionality of climate control?

Doubt it - (I think) the K-Line is on a different pin on the 38 pin connector.

Very informative thread.
I have found what I was looking for.:thumb:
Many thanks to all patricipants.:)

My homemade thingy will read and clear fault codes, so I would have thought that thing would.

The blurb says "Reads and clears generic and manufacturer specific Diagnostic Trouble Codes ", and if the chap has recommended it to you then it should work, and if it doesn't he couldn't really refuse to take it back.

Will this home made one work with my c200 sport 1999?

A very strange thing happen to my car:
it got an enormous lag to accelerate when in low speed. But the engine light is off and the board computer has no error messages.
I had the idea to try to use the OBD scanner that I have to see if it could be possible that any mysterious error could be stored. Bingo!
Low signal from MAF sensor.
Isn't it strange that the board computer says nothing, no fault light on the dash appear, just when I scan for errors it shows?!
Is it normal or Mercedes tried to make some economy Again?
By my thought, it is electrical. So it must be dealed by the engine check!
