W202 grille

Howdy fellow Benz owners....! ive seen this grille on ebay... its the avantgarde style.... also how much of a mission are they to fit as it doesnt include the chorme surround :s all help much appreciated

check the price of a genuine part in your local dealers before you part with any cash!
That seems a bit pricey for a patten part

Hi,
I don,t believe the the AV grill is available any longer from MB, and when it was I think it was in the region of £200+, the going rate for a pattern AV grill for a W202 is in region of £50-£65.

I only paid that much for a complete grill for my W210, this site wants £50 just for the insert

Yes but the 210 grill is only plastic IIRC, W202 item has a rather substantial chrome surround, pattern items are available as inserts, I don,t think the AV grill for a w202 was ever available as an insert, either way its not available anymore and hasn,lt been for a couple of years IIRC.

So what your saying is, i cant put the insert straight into my original Elegance grill??? they didnt make the Avantgarde in the W202 but the grill looks pretty mint in my opinion

also, what does IIRC stand for? lol

ah well thats good then ..... was going to get one with the star in the middle but after reading other posts on here, people are sayinig the avantgarde is the better choice.... anyone else think otherwise????

i guess so! think il just put the avantgarde frill insert in! will go to mb tomorrow and see if they still do it and if not, il just get it off ebay from the link posted earlier ! thanks for all your help peepzzz

I was meaning you could,nt get the AV grill insert as a separate item from MB, and yes you are correct there wasn,t a w202 Avanguarde, but there was a grill which MB sold that became known a the AV grill.

When you do replace it keep an eye out for the bonnet pull. It is very easy to find that you've jammed it into the top of the grille and can't get the bonnet open!
