Hi guys, my headlight lens' are looking pretty grubby from the inside. i was was wondering if there was any way i could take the front lens' off withough having to remove the whole headlight cluster??

any ideas?

If you remove the metal clips the lens can be split from the rest of the light. I'm not sure if you can reach them all without taking the light off though. The lights are easy to remove, one plug and 3 or 4 bolts.

Hi,
The headlight will have to be removed to remove the lens, your headlight is the early type so you won,t have metal clips, but plastic catches on the headlight glass itself.

If it helps I swapped the headlamps on my old w202 in about an hour on a driveway in the rain, so taking them out to clean and then replacing should be achiveable in an afternoon.

thanks for the advice guys, i managed to get them both cleaned today. had to take off the whole headlight assembly to get the lens off, but managed it in the end. all it took was an hour and some cuts to the fingers=).

one thing i noticed inside the cluster was a metal tube thing which goes over the headlight bulb. what is that used for? just a bit curious

Bulb cover, to reflect light onto the reflector, as well as reducing glare since the older headlight assy use H1 bulb as dipped beam.
