Hi!

I'm thinking about upgrading the stock speakers in my W202 to something more powerful. I'm happy with the head-unit I currently have (a Kenwood KRC-794) and have no interest in buying an amp.

Can anyone suggest a set of speakers for me?

good thread, id like to know about this too as i feel my speakers are of poor quality.. i dont want to spend out hundreds into thousands but id like a nice upgrade

I had a set of 'Boston' speakers in my c200 , they came with the car when I bought it and they were excellent in terms of sound quality

I recently changed all my speakers for my car with:
Rear doors - Infinity: Reference 4032CF - 10cm speakers
Front doors and shelf - Infinity: Reference 6532i - 16.5cm speakers
I've got a 12" Infinity sub in the boot and all that is powered by Kicker: 08ZX7005 - 5 channel amplifier, which is awesome, the sound quality is amazing but I need to change the back shelf ones for a set of three ways and the ones I got lack mid range punch, all in it cost me £250, my mate who installed it all gave me the amp as he wasn't using it anymore.

I will take some pictures soon but I do need to tidy the wires in the boot which I will do when I change the back shelf speakers.

Did you need any adaptor rings for them? or did they fit the existing mountings?

I had a set of Critical Mass units in the front of the C180. The rear had something else... can't remember what, but they were chrome... (I can dig up info if you wish).

I was quite pleased with both, though the fronts were a tinge better at opera... Adapters for both, gotten from a site ... which... uhm... the link is somewhere on here... I'll dig it up tonight.

Cheers M :)

The reason i was asking is the bumf from infiniti talks about I-mount (patent no. 5,859,917) tweeter kit and Starfish¿ OEM adapter >?

Was just wondering if id still need the adaptors or should i try and fabricate some ?

I recon you'll need the adapters still... The rears are in a plastic "shroud" (no screwholes in the metal parcel shelf) so you may be able to re-use the plastic shroud... the front... I can't remember, it's been too long!
