Does anyone know the part code for the chrome gear surround for the W202. I think the part is only on the facelift but I'm not sure?
Also does the part definitely fit the W208 CLK?

Hi,
I don,t believe this trim was ever made in chrome by MB, it is a non gen part.
Do an e-bay search and i feel sure you will find one, yes the 202 and the 208 should be the same and probably the 210 as well.

Good man. Thanks for this. does it definitely fit my W208? I want it to match the chrome rings I have purchased. I am also looking to fit the SLK beige vent controls and I have the radio removal keys but do not know where to place them to remove the heater panel. Any ideas?

As far as I know you dont need to remove the whole heater panel. If you get a cloth or tissue and place it over some pliers to remove the knobs you should be able to take the old dial pieces out to replace them with the white/beige faces.

I think the chrome gearshift surround should fit your car but it will be fairly tight fit as it is in the W202.

As it turns out you have to completely swap the units over. Its far easier that way. The dials cannot be removed unless you take the whole front section of the unit off. Much easier to swap out. Taking the wood fascia off was the hardest part. I was very aware that any damage could ruin my day but with perseverence and a will placed gym card nothing got damaged! Lifts the cabin rather nicely IMO. Chrome heater rings and gear surround have been bought to further brighten the appearance.

It only fits the 5 speed box , it won't go onto the tip box.
There is a different part number for the chrome shift frame to suit tip models. I posted it on the forum a LONG time ago, will search a bit.

Oh nice , i wouldnt mind that if you come across it. I tried to get my old one from the 5 speed to fit the tip and it didnt.

I believe these are the part numbers for the tip gearshift surrounds:
Black - gloss: A20226707889040
Chrome: A20226707887F24
Black - matt: A2022670788

I understood the gloss one was now unobtainable in the UK, but it has a price here.
The chrome one is slightly more.

UPDATE:
Stealership tells me today that part #A20226707887F24 (chrome) replaced A20226707889040.

So evidently the W202 gloss black surround never existed, unless it's from another series (like the R170 series fits the standard W202 autobox).

Another member told me he'd seen a gloss black one in a W202 tip model, so it's all a bit of a mystery :dk:. I obtained the '9040' part # from Google a while back and must have misread the information.
