W203 Add rain sensor / Auto Wipers ?

x332race, yes, you will need to get the 3 wire loom. I left the original 4 wire loom connected and fitted the new loom into a spare socket in the OCP.

The relevant part #'s are listed but I would hazard a guess they have been superceeded by now. Have a chat with your local MB parts man, mine was very helpfull in finding a suitable loom.

It may well be possible to utilise the existing 4 wire loom but without meter readings and being confident with the WIS wiring diagrams (from experience these do tend to be somewhat variable in accuracy) I wouldn't recommend it!
Hi

I am trying to do a very similar install in my facelift 04 203. I am slightly confused when you say that you left the original loom connected, I guess you left the original loom connected to the OCP as I guess there would be only one connection on the new combined LRS, which is a three wire connection which is plugged into the spare connection in the OCP. Am I right please?

Yes , you are right

Yes, correct. The original loom is bonded to the headlining so not easy to remove completely. I just tucked it up out of the way. The new loom from the RLS goes into the OCP socket, IIRC there is only one that will take the 3pin connector

Thanks Hercules and Whitenemesis. I was just having a peep at the OCP and it's perfect.

Two more queries left.

1. Where does the new 'connector' go? Is it between the new three wire loom and the OCP. Thankfully my local MB dealer has at least the RLS and the three wire loom in stock, but not the connector.

2. Do you know if I would need to change wires around on the three wire loom? My current configuration is four wire for the light sensor alone and it sits right in the centre of the windscreen area for the sensors, as of it should have the bracket for the combined LRS.

Thanks..two more queries

Hi All

Got the new sensor and plugged it to the ocp after changing pins 2&3 around for the loom to be wired straight through. Went to my local STAR guy who was helpful and coded F-SAM to combined HELLA, but could not code OCP as it kept telling RLS is open circuit. Any ideas?

Thanks

I took two photos for you, I should give you an idea about the pin-out of the OCP and RLS .
Hope this will help

Thanks very much for taking the pain to post the photos. Thats what I have now. Shall try powering the OCP down..or if still not working, I was thinking of changing the wires around between ground and signal to as it came from MB.

Many thanks
Joe

Hi All

Project completed...another happy kid from mbclub.co.uk! A very special thanks to Hercules, Whitenemesis and Smiddyboy for taking time and all the replies. Also to all who contributed to this topic.

The coding work was not done right in the first try but job done successfully today. Wired the sensor as everybody again and again has stressed, ie pin 1 sensor to pin 1 ocp and so on.

Thanks to everybody who recommended W.D.M Cars, Birmingham. They were really helpful and understanding. Charged me only £30.00 for the two visits. They gave me an appointment and didn't really keep me waiting on both occasions. Mercedes Birmingham wanted £100.00 + VAT for the job and the car left with them for a full day. Andy (Andy Gayle) also wanted car to be left with them and quoted me £50.00. It was more the convenience and friendliness that made me go to W.D.M though I had been a customer of Andy Gayle...not any more.

i have the same problem with coding. can you kindly to tell me how to do it

The coding steps were given in a rain sensor thread on the forum. I cannot recollect it but what I remember is that coding needs done in a particular the sequence.

Here is some info I found on searching back. Alternatively you could contact command online for help.

Puedes usarlo.? O necesito otro

I read that the new sensors are going to join the rain and lights if you would help me with the references I would appreciate it very much. Greetings
