Hi All,

I am in the process of removing the inlet manifold from my C220 CDI.

I am following the haynes manual which is not too bad however I seem to have a wiring loom and the ATF dipstick tube passing through the hole in the middle of the manifold.

The haynes manual isnt particularly clear when it says about removing the dipstick tube. I have undone the bolt that holds it onto the manifold. Are there any more bolts or does it pull out?

In terms of the wiring I cant see where it goes, is it a case of lifting the manifold up and removing the plugs as they become available?

Thanks very much

Sam

If similar to my ML, the wiring goes to the (1) crank position sensor, (2) the starter motor and (3) the engine oil sensor on the side of the block

You'll probably get better access if you remove the n/s inner wheel liner.

Dipstick tube pulls out with a bit of twisting. Follow wiring down and towards front of car and you will find connecter.

Thanks for the replies, I have finished the job, what a complete pain!

It turns out the dipstick tube is held in at the bottom with a bolt which isnt too hard to get to once the undertray is removed. the dipstick doesn't come out as there are two steel pipes in the way however releasing the bolt gives enough movement of the dipstick to get the manifold out.

The wiring went to 4 things, the servo motor on the manifold, the starter motor liver terminal, something down underneath by the base of the dipstick tube and something to the right hand side under the manifold. Lifting the manifold up gave enough room to disconnect them all.

I have just one question, there is a pipe that runs from the very rear of the cylinder head, it looks like it drains any water or diesel that ends up around the injectors, does this connect to anything? I dont remember unplugging it from anything but you never know!

Thanks

Sam

Guys. I'm looking for a how to, I can't see a sticky on this and I'm going in blind.
The deletion of the flaps has been completed in a spare manifold, it's the procedure I need and tools required. Tia
