W203 Completely Dead in the Mornings!!

I've had the unit out once and check it out. No physical signs to be fixed, however, I am looking at reprogramming the eeprom once I sort the interface out for the processor.. Will let you know as it goes....

I had the EIS replaced for 500 plus labour at 52 per hour (not sure how many hours because other work was done) all plus VAT. Everything works fine now. Cannot recommend Darren Newton of Newtons Mercedes Benz Specialists highly enough. He's just north of Chichester and was very fair and helpful. Anyone near Chichester would do well to give him a try. No connection, just a very satisfied customer.

I have been having a similar problem with the battery discharging if i leave it for 48hrs and after doing several tests including the EIS i decided to bite the bullet and take it to my local MB specialist and after a couple of hours using the Star diagnostics i recieved the bad news that it was the o/s rear door locking motor.
I have had news today that after fitting the motor my battery was still discharging and after further tests it is i think they said the electric control module that operates the door loking motor which has caused the motor to malfuntion.
I have to now have them both replaced at a cost of £600 in total for the labour, Parts and diagnostic tests.

Update i picked my car up on Wednesday morning and i used my car on Thursday and left it for about 36 hrs and this morning it was completely dead again and after jump starting' It has now been taken back to garage to try and find the problem and i am now getting really fed up with this problem.

When I had this problem similar to yours it was the rear SAM.. It will be interesting to what yours is...

Anyhow, info from another forum to my problem:

I had the same situation with W203 ESZ with B1000/ it is a hardware trouble of ESZ, but not the software.
If you get warm a little bit the ESZwith hot air the car will start with no trouble. But after it get cold especially in the winter car is not working. DTC is B1000. I don't konow the reason.........yet.

Solution is: other ESZ, make new partition key, new ELV, make new ECU and synchronize with DAS and everything will work fine.

(when your ICM show "------" mean there is no communication by CAN with second MCU 908 of ESZ)

Interesting... I read from this that there could possibly be a dry joint on the circuit board of the ESZ unit.. Tomorrow morning I will take it apart again and go other it with the soldering iron..

Will let ya know how it goes....

My wife messaged me today that the car is completely dead, hasn't been moved for about 3 weeks but i think the batt wouldn't die in that time as i have sometimes left it that long and no problems. she said that the key fob wouldn't even turm in the ignition. if the batt is completely dead is this right or should it still turn. I left the car for 6 months once and the batt completely died but i think the key still turned im not sure.

Cheers in advance

Sounds like its flat. All batteries have a lifespan and if you leave your car for long periods of time on a regular basis then your battery will discharge more deeply than normal (with your 'key off' loads). This causes some sulphation each time it happens. When you re-charge, all seems ok but next time you leave it it discharges and sulphates a little more, then you recharge again etc... This condition is called progressive walkdown and the condition gets worse as you lose a little capacity each cycle. Hence it may have lasted a long time at first but now perhaps will only go a couple of weeks. Recharge the battery first to make sure it starts ok and also to check that you have no discharge due to a fault on the car. Assuming all this checks out then buy a new battery and invest in a small plug-in maintenance charger.

cheers for that its been on a trickle charger from nov-mar then i got it out and it was fine. i went away and again and she need to use it now and again and left it for 3 weeks...nothing

Disconnecting the battery frequently will eventually destroy the electronics in the car as they are not designed to cope with that type of disconnect / reconnect.

I would be inclined to say that the front fuse box, EIS and battery have been compromised but may still provide some joy until it fails.

The fuse boxes and EIS dont seem to last more than 10 years.

The OP mentioned an alarm system. I would start there.

The battery has never been disconnected since I've had the car 4+ yrs
