W203 heated seat option

Thanks for the update, any chance you can take some close up pictures of the seats with the pads fitted. I guess it won't show much - just wondered what the final finish is like.

I'll get some sorted over the break....

Cheers

Why do you punish yourself. Just look at a wiring diagram.

Any ideas where I can get a wiring diagram for this, I've just ordered my switch and I'll get a loom ordered when the parts department open, then I'll get around to fitting :)

Oh, Mines a 2006 facelift w203

Thanks

Wow, that was a long break........

They look worse on the photo although I might still get them to put a thin layer of foam from the base to the half way point in the seat if it doesn't effect the heat to much. I have had them on all the time since they were fitted.......

Cheers

I reckon that bulge is just the over heat jobby that protects the pads.

Spot on, that's what they told me when I noticed it after the install. To be honest it's hardly noticeable, you definatly can't feel it on your back but once you know it's there.....

Not sure if extra foam would do the trick though ?

It looked like they had half the car apart when I dropped by in the afternoon, not to mention the seats in so many pieces. They managed to fit them between the MB-Tex leather and the seat cushioning material so they heat up nice and warm pretty quick.

Cheers, Adam

How effective is the passenger side heater?

I've just fitted the loom, switch and drivers side pads to mine today but when I stripped the passenger side seat base the seat cover was different due to what I'm guessing is the seat sensor membrane for the airbag and seat belt warning alarm.

On the passanger one there is a thin layer of foam built into the cover (the drivers side one didn't have any) which looked like it would stop any heat getting through.

I'm going to strip the seat down again on Friday to have a better look as it was getting a bit late when so I called it a day (and the fact that the drivers side one is working :) )

Thanks

Hi all,

I'm in the middle of getting this done on my W211 E320. I got Waeco pads from eBay, and tried to fit them into the seats last week.

No problem getting the pad into the backrest, but the leather cover on seat base seems to be very well bonded to the foam inside. Also there were a couple of metal support bars which really got in the way as well.

I've got in touch with a company who do leather upholstery, they've agreed to fit so I'll hopefully be in the hot seat this week!

Seems a lot of people have done the Waeco seats mod to C class cars, seems to be a bit more problematic in the E class...And I'm not even trying to use the MB switchgear!

Cheers,
Eddie.

Hi all,

bugger. The Waeco MHS-50 pads, as available on eBay, are not suitable for use on the E class as the elements need to be cut to get around the T-shaped support bars in the seats.

So, the end of the story is that I had to go with the carbon pads as supplied by the upholsterer. All done in about 5 hours, I'd expect less time required on cloth upholstery.

Mmmmmmm, warm seats now working - especially this week!

I've checked the Waeco pads on a 12V supply, they work fine but just not in my car, so they will be in the For Sale section as soon as I can manage...

Thanks,
Eddie.

The passenger side works just as well, not sure if the foam was removed but my lunch sometimes sets off the seat belt warning. Either I have more cheese in my sandwiches :o (Seems fine after 10:00am), or the pad must be above the sensor ? Where is the sensor in relation to the foam

Cheers

Hi,

Thanks for the info, when I stripped the passenger seat the sensor was directly on top of the foam seat base and the seat cover had a thin layer of foam stitched to it that wasn't on the drivers side.

I'll be looking at stripping the seat again later in the week so I'll have a look at the best way to fit the cover and the heat pad - It might be worth removing the foam from the seat cover and buying a thin piece of new foam to go over sensor

In relation to W203 with non original pads

- switch row
- OEM harness
- pins and connectors
- whatever heating mat you choose (even W168).

OR

- switch row
- OEM harness
- new w203 seat leathers with heating

If you would like it to be more complicated simply purchase a W202 or W210 and I can assure you it is more complicated.

Have done it to my car and several other cars. No secret tricks.

Hello,
I am trying to retrofit seat heaters in my facelifted W203.
I have switch row, OEM harness, and non-mercedes heating mats; but i cannot find connectors and pin reference to adapt heating mats wiring.
Can you provide me those references?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,
It seems that there is two differents wirings for W203 (before/after facelift).
Someone gave me partnumbers but unfortunately it was for the "before facelift" W203.
Can you provide me the partnumbers you used to check if it is the same?
Thanks in advance
