My W203 has the normal air con dials (not digital climate). I noticed that when it was really cold and i had the temp set quite high in auto mode it starts blowing cold air as soon as i started the car, which i thought it was supposed to know to blow none until the car was warm?? Now yesterday i tried putting on the air con full blast to make sure it all works ok and i found that it was ice cold on the vents on the left hand side of the car but luke warm on the vents on the right side of the car.......Any ideas what needs fixing?? Cheers....:thumb:

Do you have the same temp set each side?

Yes i set both temps to the lowest setting just beyond the click or notch and then the left vents blow really cold but the right ones take ages to go cold and even then are noticeable warmer than the left ones......Strange.....:wallbash:

Have you tried normalising the flaps?

Ignition in position II. Press and hold the demist and recirc buttons until the lights flash. Normalising should take approx 30secs, when the lights stop flashing, switch off ignition, wait 20sec then start engine and check operation

Nice, didnt even know this existed or what it was!! I will give it a whirl and report back!! :thumb:

Not sure if related but something else i noticed recently is when i get in the car and start it first thing in morning and push the heated rear window button it goes out again by itself straight away but if i wait a few seconds after starting before pushing it or push it again it is fine....?? Strange

Could be the battery has just taken a big hit with the glow plugs and starting the engine, the system hasn't enough to use the rear screen heater so cancels it? Just guessing here...

Yes i thought maybe that could be it as its fine if left literally for a couple seconds....

I did the reset process and it started off like before, but then they switched over and the left vents were noticeably warmer than the right ones so i left them on for quite a while and in the end they seemed to level out so hopefully it has sorted it!! Cheers..

Quick update in case anyone else experiences this strange issue......I just had an air con specialist come out to my car. He checked and found no leaks but that it was very low on gas. He removed all moisture and regassed the system and hey presto it all works fine!! No longer is there varying temp of air between vents, its all perfect except for a blocked and very sorry looking pollen filter which needs changing. So basically the gas being low causes all kinds of confusion in the system, remember that if you get similar symptoms!!

Just had my 2001 CDI220 regassed was warm on right vent and hissing inside dash. Cured both faults nice and ice cold now. My indy said proper way to do it is by weight of gas.
