Mercedes C220 CDI
Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie on here, so just wanted to say a quick Hello to everyone!

I have a 2003 Mercedes C220 CDi.

I have removed the original head unit, and wanted to replace it with an aftermarket unit. I have wired up the new unit using the correct wiring harness. However the new uni is not powering up, and i really don't know what the problem could be.

The new head unit definately works, as i have tried it in a different car. The wiring harness is OK too as i have tested this with a different car.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi
Check the ISO connector with a multi-meter, I have recently removed the command from my w220 and replaced it with a double din multi media head unit and I didn't have an ignition powered positive on my MB connector.

You need both permanent positive and switched positive to turn on and run the aftermarket head units

You definitely have the right harness?
Steering wheel can bus adapter is what you need, this converts the can bus on signal to 12v switched.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes, the wiring harness i have is the correct one (but is not designed to control the steering wheel controls)

GIzee, thanks for the link. If i buy that will that solve the problem of the power supply?

Yeah.

What harness have you got then?

You need one with a can bus adapter built in, to convert the can bus ignition on the 12v switched.
