Since it was the first half decent day we have had when i've been off i thought i'd treat the car to a wash and hoover.

Discovered a couple of things that have turned a decent weekend into a nightmare!

1) Paintwork - Someone has caught the drivers door on the bump strips, hopefully it will polish out as the scratches aren't that deep and no dings in the metal.
2) Passenger footwell - Since i bought the car there has always been a small stain on the carpet so i decided to whip the carpet out and look out George the vac / washer.

When i removed it the sponge felt slightly damp, ok just washed the car must have a leak somewhere - was i wrong!

I seem to have some sort of green "oil" which on the floor pan at the top left hand side. The sponge soundproofing is covered in it and when touch the green turns to brown.

Now as the A/C hasn't worked and i suspected a leak i thing i may have just discovered it!

Can someone tell me where this may be coming from and any advice.

I expect to be told its the evaporator and the dash needs to come out!

Could this be fluid from the gearbox where it passes fluid up into the gearbox ECU.

Or does the air intake box in front of the screen need the drains clearing out

Certainly sounds like the perfect spot for AC doesn't it.

Check all the drains are clear and all of the drainage tubes look secure and intact, give the electrical harnesses a good once over to see how they feel and look.

And take a look and the cabin air filters.

Suppose you could also get the AC system dye tested.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I am 99% sure it's A/C related.

If it is the evaporator is this a dash out job and can it be DIY'ed?

Is this job shown in WIS? I don't have access to it hence why asking.

Yes it is dash out to do it,,Maybe I can give you the instructions.

Is the air con still working

I knew it would be!

No the A/C has been down for a while, EC light on. Checked via the digi panel and it showed that it was low on gas, tried to get it re gassed at Kwik Fit and it wouldn't take. Not done anything about it because of the weather really.

The only reason i came across this is because of the stain, beginning to wonder if it's been leaking for a while.

Had another look today and i am sure there is more oil, is A/C gas green/brown?

Re the instructions, that would be great!

It will take me a little time to get it together and I will need a Email address when I am ready in a few days

Television... I've been reading your reply with great interest but am having problems 'PM'-ing you.
Are you able to post an email? or send one to me - [email protected]
Kind regards
Keith
