HI All,

I have a problem with my pano roof.

opened at tilt this weekend , now when i try to close it, it closes 5 mm or so then pops open again, not sliding all the way open just to the tilted position.

If I keep pressing the "down" button it will close a little more, then finally opens again to the fully open tilt position.

It is as though some anti trap function is stopping it closing, but i can see nothing stopping it.

There is no grinding noise as i see in other threads , it opens fully , but will not close.

As suggested in other threads i have opened it fully , with the ignition in position 1/2 , no difference.

Also disconnected the battery for 2 minutes.

Any suggestions appreciated.

regards
ian

All,

I have managed to get it closed.

I gave it a good spray with WD40, none of the special grease atm, will get some hopefully tomorrow.

After continually pressing the down /tilt function it gave a rather loud thump and closed , all a bit scary , not re-opened I need a beer first !

No idea if it will be the same as the problem I had with my last non MB car...apparently parts, possibly rails from memory had worn and eventually snapped. It ended up being a fairly expensive repair with full strip out of the headliner, new kit etc it was getting on for over £700.

I hope it's nothing similar for you...I always did wonder if I had periodically had the rails/inner workings lubricated from time to time whether it would have gone but I'll never know!

Good luck!
