I've been searching for user feedback on this accessory but haven't been too successful. Any W204 owners here willing to share their experience?

We are in the process of having a new baby to the family, this would be a baby benz of course. Looks like I could get the Comand unit from eBay at half the price compared to ordering it from the factory (excluding installation), this would be one option while the universal multimedia interface would be another one. UMI should be simpler to install, I'm a bit afraid if Comand asks for SCN coding and the data card info updated first, might be difficult to explain to my dealer what they should do to have it coded properly.

UMI on the other hand seems to be lacking voice control, I understand it would display a real map on the small display, not just navigation arrows. This should be OK for me, I believe voice control is the main difference to me between the two options.

I see the device on sale at Comand Online and eBay but I'm surprised about the silence at forums, anyone here willing to break the silence?

Umi

I received a mailshot from MB inviting me to purchase the UMI as a retrofit option. It looks like quite a good product, but at £799 from MB I think I'll probably pass on that opportunity.

Im in the same predicament, as im going for the SE, i get the basic MF functions on the wheel, so im thinking of going for the AUDIO 50 setup, wich is a £1000 option, that way you get the better wheel, and you get a different instrument cluster.

If you want the 12-button wheel and better instruments but not the Audio 50, then you can get them on the SE by selecting telephone pre-wire for about £350.

Ahh thats good to know, dont suppose you know if there is a cheap way of getting DAB on the basic radio!

Sorry for hijacking the thread DB.

OK, I got my UMI installed on my C200 Avantgarde today.

It installed fine, but I don't know the SA Code required to integrate it properly with the rest of the system. The local MB dealers don't have a clue...
Its navi works fine, it is fast with adequate image quality.
The ipod + USB also work, but until I get the three digit code to program it correctly, I cannot choose Playlist/Album/Artist etc, it plays on shufle mode.
Sound is -as expected- very good. Overall it is a neat solution, provided of course I find the code to programm it on the Star system..
