Hi all,

Just had my C300 serviced at main dealer, asked for maps to be updated while in, they said yes ok.

Got the car back, noticed hand written note on service paperwork saying Nav DVD ordered...

I did not think the W205 used a DVD for the Maps?... I might be wrong

anyone know if they mean a master DVD for the dealership to download updates or is it individual DVD for car???.. I'm assuming they are not just fobbing me off.

Cheers

John

It'll be a master for the dealership to use for any 205's, plus they'll need a PIN from the MB mainframe. Maps are stored on the car's HDD. Hope your car is less than 3 years old thus still on free updates, otherwise your wallet is going to get raped!

Yes a 2015 so ok this year!

Thanks for reply I'm surprised they need to order one!

The new map for W205/W253/SLS/Vito/S-Class COMAND NTG5*2 (2017/2018) is just becoming available. PIN codes can be generated for cars for the new map but I don't think the USB update stick has made it to the dealers yet - but it can be bought for money lots. (Dealers get sent them, dunno if they need to pay or they just turn up for free)

Waiting for my dealer to get the update so I can do my car - maybe it will get rid of the idiot treatment of large roundabouts (which it thinks are straight with lots of left exits, thus telling you to prepare to turn left when you need to be in the right hand lane)

Comand has quite a few map oddities Richard - going up the M20 towards London, as you approach J5/6 (dual junction) it tells you to move to the left then immediately keep right and follow the M20 - so you move into the inside lane (which is specific to leaving the M20) and at the last second get told to keep right and follow the M20!! One of a number of "ignore Katie" moments when using our Comand satnav!

Bought a new C-Class C200 Sport in April 2017 and when I took the car in for its first service, I expected the satnav to be updated - it wasn't. When asked why, I was told I would have to pay £400 for a USB update.
Surely this isn't right? If it is correct, I think it's a poor show by M-B during the warranty period.
