W205 Ordered Today

Thats strange, as the MBUK website indicates that Black Ash is a £195 option with no mention of the clock anywhere on the option list.

The clock comes with the trim - you don't have to pay extra for this. So if you went with the high gloss black option and then are considering changing to the wood trim you will need to change the trim and also fill the gap in the trim that is there for the clock. You can also see the clock on the online configurator.

Also refer to the pricing brochure from MBUK: http://tools.mercedes-benz.co.uk/current/passenger-cars/pricelists/c-class-saloon-estate.pdf

Page 57. Small print (5):

⁵All wood trims and AMG carbon-fibre trim in conjunction with automatic transmission will feature an analogue clock in the centre console

That link is slowly becoming my W205 bible!

Some of the guys over on the JagInfo.org forum have had very good results in getting interior trim plastidipped by Garnish - Its all in the finish. So that might be an option.

Note: I have no affiliation with them, nor have I used their service, so can't vouch directly for the quality.

I've heard and seen the results of plastidipping on the internet but I've not seen it in person and I'm not sure how the finish would be on interior - especially to recreate a wood texure? Would it be as durable as a wrap?

Nonetheless it's better to have more options rather than less.

Edit: I've seen the link and it looks like the finish is gloss. Can they do matt? (That's more for Paul than me.)

looks great enjoy! i doubt it will ever be that clean again! any interior pics?

It's actually filthy, having been driven here from the suppling dealer 80 miles away. The red hides it well. I'm a bit of a detailing nut, so it'll generally be pretty shiny :-)

One thing I don't like on all the new Mercs is the horizontal shut line of the bonnet (including my A45) but apart from that it looks stunning, especially in Hyacinth Red

Ordered my s205 estate last week scheduled for delivery mid may. Am living in france and it is replacing a glk 220cdi 4matic. Spec is

250 bluetec 4matic
Palladium silver
Black artico dinamica tissu
Oak open pore trim
Airmatic
Exclusive pack inc the traditional mercedes grill and airpanel
burmester
Full driving assistance package
360 camera
Under motor protection
Heated washer
Intelligent light system

Painfully pricey here in france!

Before ordering we gave a sportline estate with the amg pack an extended test drive and the suspension was very good. It was on 18 inch wheels with 45 profile tyres and there was more tyre roar than on the glk. However we need additional ride height hence the airmatic, the sportline only just cleared our drive with its 15mm lowered ride height. Hoping the 17 inch 50 profile tyres and airmatic will be a little quieter. But the new c is overall an improvement over the very good ride of the glk which is class leading for the 4x4 sector.

Looking forward to spring!

Ws it not worth ordering from a UK dealer, in the same way we used to order from French and Belgium dealers when the prices were the other way round?

Not sure if they would supply lhd? UK spec cars do not have the exclusive option (the old man grill but I much prefer the look) or 4matic which is another must have for us.
Importing new and registering here attracts vat on the price paid and the same registration costs as if bought here. Lots of expats happy to drive rhd buy in the uk as secondhand cars are much cheaper in the uk...we will recoup some cost versus a uk car due to the aforementioned secondhand values, but an interesting suggestion we did not explore.
