Hello all,

I’ve noticed that my car has started to wear the outside edge of the nearside front tyre. Tyre pressures are all ok and there no noticeable vibrations through the steering wheel and the car is isn’t pulling to one side

The car has always worn the outside edge of this tyre a little more than any other tyres on the car but it does seem to have worn a little quicker this time. I’m guessing it’s wheel alignment and thought this would be a good starting point. Does anyone know of any good wheel alignment centres in the Hartlepool area and would it be best to get a full 4 wheel alignment done? Also how much does this usually cost? I've been quoted £100 plus vat and additional cost for any adjustments made.

Cheers

Michael

It sounds more like a geometry problem than just alignment.
Have you had it aligned previously?

Check the joints and bushes on the forward and rear arms, if a previous owner has had it aligned when these have been worn then the problem will return very quickly.

I've not had it aligned previously and have now had the car for about 5 years. It's always had a slight bit of uneven wear on this wheel, but just seems to have gotten worse over the last 4-5 thousand miles.

I had mentioned at the 3 places I've had it serviced over that time and they've all said everything seems normal, no problems with any of the joints / bushes.

I do think that the car has had some different wheels on at some point as it's arches have been rolled to accommodate them. Could this have anything to do with it?

Cheers

Is it a cabriolet?

The nearside tyre will always wear more on the edge. It seems to be a trait of 202's and 208's. It is the tyre that gets most of the loading on roundabouts
