I have just had a second hand diff fitted with changing the shafts discs hubs etc which has got rid of the whine it had but now it goes into limp 3rd gear.
I have tried disconnecting battery and grounding electronics.
When you start it it goes into gear correctly but once it has changed up it stays in 3rd and will not change out of it if you stop switch off restart it will pull away in first.
Dont know what to check next thought it could be the abs sensors but it was all fine before the diff was fitted.

I have just replaced the sensors on the drive shaft and still the gearbox will start in first when you pull away then when it gets into 3rd it stays there.
Switch off start again and will pull away in 1st get to 3rd then stays in 3rd to pull away and will not change and the tiptronic will not work.
The tip tronic will change gears when it first starts but then will not come out of 3rd till you stop the engine and start again
