W208 CLK 430
Hi all,

New to the forums. Bought my 1st Merc around 6 months ago, a 2000 CLK430. Have really enjoyed owning the car!

Looking some advice on wheels. Took the car in for a tyre check a couple of weeks back as the front passenger-side tyre was losing pressure. Turned out to be a split alloy. Took it to a wheel shop for repair. The wheel is now holding the tyre pressure, but despite a few attempts, does not seem to balance and the steering wheel now vibrates badly between about 50-60mph.

Thinking about biting the bullet and getting new wheels. The current wheels seem to be 'AMG-style', but do not have a stamp. Any recommendations/advice much appreciated!

Cheers

I know of a member here with a set for sale. REAL AMG's and just been re-furbed.

momomo is his name.

17" Look a bit tiny on a CLK. 18's suit much better IMO.

Could the 208 be spec'd with 18's from the factory?

Not sure. My 202 could be.

Are you sure?
I did,nt think any W202 came from the factory with 18"s.
Though i believe they "may" have been an option on the W202 C55, but this was an AMG "special".
Olly just sent you a PM.

No , no 208 CLK's came with 18's as OEM.

Biggest was 17 which was standard on the 430 and 55. Everything else got 16's .

Keep looking , they do turn up fairly regularly.

I have a feeling that some 208s could be fitted with AMG split-rim 18" wheels as an expensive option when new. Have seen a handful of very high-specced 208 CLK55s with these wheels apparantly as factory fit.

A VIN check might help to confirm maybe :)

Bloody amazing deal, all thanks to these forums
They are around, but quite rare, worth holding out until you find the wheels you want. I went with the 17" as AMG used them for the CLK and not 18", wanted to stay along the recommended sizes, plus the tyres are cheaper :thumb:

Ride is a bit softer too.

Info for BO88IN

Please pass onto BO88IN as I am interested in the wheels you have, not sure if they will fit my W210 E300 though.
Hopefully this isnt bending the rules too much but as a new member I am unable to PM until i hit 30 posts.
Thanks

Hi R1der, still have the wheels, not sure if they will fit yours. Perhaps someone will be along soon to confirm. Perhaps if you started a new thread asking the question if the AMG clk alloys will fit your car, someone could help.

Cheers,

Colin

Hi BOBBIN I may be interested in the 18 wheels for my CLK320, I also have under 30 posts so cant take advantage of the PM option.

Sorry guys, seems there may be a bit of confusion, I have the 6 spoke 16" alloys for sale as in the classified section.
Hope this clears things up. I shall create a new thread for those that want to contact me regarding the wheels but there post count is not high enough and prevent the hijacking of this thread :-)
