2009 CLK 280 amg sport
Hi all good people.

Around 3 months ago I have changed both front disks and brake pads on my 2009 CLK 280 amg sport. Ever since that I am experiencing constant shaking from both sides of front wheels.
First I went to kwik fit to do the wheel alignment and it was way off so they straight that up but shaking never went away.
I thought I reach out first to you guys here before my next move. The disks are ventilated but on the cheaper side and was thinking of getting the genuine straight from Merc.

Any help would me much appreciated :)

It could be one of many things - and even something as simple as not cleaning up the hubs before refitting. - but unfortunately the new disks are possibly irreparably damaged now due to be used in this condition for a while.

If you’re confident with a spanner then you could try stripping and refitting the lot again, looking out for things which aren’t quite right, cleaning up the hub, applying fresh copper paste on the backs of the pads, etc.

If you’re unsure though, ask a trusted mechanic to inspect the brakes properly, and fit new disks and pads if needs be. It doesn’t need to be a Mercedes specialist, any competent mechanic should be able to do it.

Thank you for that. I will get them inspected and report the outcome.

I assume that you have checked the wheel bolts are correctly tightened to the specified torque?

I personally didint but changed the tyres since I would imagine the garage would do that but I will make a note of that . Thank you

Put a smear of copper anti seize grease on hub to stop disc sticking to hub due to rust.
Easier to remove next time.

I usually apply the same to the tiny bolt that secures the disc to the hub while the roadwheel is off. Once the roadwheel is in place, that tiny bolt serves no real purpose, and it is 'locked' in place and won't work its way out, so no harm in applying a compound to the thread. But it's a bitch when it seizes and can't be removed....

What mileage is the car on now ? It may well be front control arms having some wear . It was in my CLK’s case .
Mine probably had new control arms in the 70-80k range

Hello mate

Mileage is at 83k now so it could be arms as well. I will have it in the garage ant will report back at the end of the month.

Thank you.

Good luck buddy .
At some point you will need the arms anyway . Autodoc is a good site l today they had 41% off stuff (the App is cheaper than the website) . Go for Lemforder and maybe your garage will fit them . That should save a few quid .
8 day delivery as it’s from Europe .

Hi All :)

Just wanted to give the update as to what was the issue .. So after another change of discs and pads what was missing was Spigot Rings on both front wheels. I've got them pretty much straight away from Shadow Wheel and Tyre Center in Reading and shaking and vibrations stopped.
It appears that they went to the bin while still attached to the old discs and wheels were loose.

Thank you everyone for the tips and help. Much appreciated.

Must have been aftermarket wheels with a different centre bore to factory rims.
