Hi,

I have an unusual fault.
When the ignition is tutned on, the car will start with NONE of the following operational; indicators, heater, speedo, instrument panel windows... but however the following do work; headlamps, radio. The car runs fine but it does display; ESP Not Available.
After a few minutes, if you turn the car off and on again, everything is fine, except the engine management light comes on.

I have taken the car to a local mechanic who tried to connect STAR (snap-on) however the car was unable to communicate to get any fault codes.

If anyone has any type of knowledge on this sort of issue; i would be very thankful for any pointers.

Many thanks, Joe

would it not be worth taking it to someone who has STAR (not snap-on) to see what information they can glean?

Its needs a real Star to see what the faults are.

Hi Mark,

Do you know any decent independent mercedes garages, im in Shirley, Croydon.

Many thanks

I'm in Croydon on Friday Morning doing crash data removal.

Will be free @ 12:00

PM me your details if you are available that day/time.

Hi, E270 Owner

I am unable to PM as i have just subscribed, maybe you can PM me?

Hi,
Sounds like a nightmare!

As it's all front end electrical components- it screams to me front SAM module. Unplug all wires to the SAM module. Make sure no water ingress in or around the unit.

Have you checked relays next to the fuses under the bonnet/hood? Unplug them & look underneath for burns.

As for the diagnostic port not responding- this has it's own fuse supply. I can't remember what number fuse but it's definitely on our w209 fuse map which is located on the driver side of the dash (access only when the door is open)

Hope this helps in any way.
Let me know
