Hello
I have a Jan 2002 E Class W210. I need to remove the Comand system in order to clean both lens and the rubber roller.

Can anyone assist in telling me how to remove this large unit? I have radio removal keys however I am of the impression that the unit is bolted into place?

Would trim removal tools be required or any particular special tools? Where do I start if trim removal is required?

Any guidance will be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Why do you need to clean them - error reading nav disk???

If so had the same problem with mine, but found that Curry's £9.99 CD lens cleaning kit did the trick, and it's as good as new now

Hi.
Thanks, yes it's the "error reading nav" however I'll try the lens cleaner first.

There is a second problem which is that of the CD not inserting and ejecting fully. I'm told this is as a result of a build up of grease on the roller which moves the CD. I've got full instructions for dismantling the Comand however nothing to guide me on how to remove it!

Hi

I have exactly the same problem and am in the same boat other than the cleaning cd has taken permanent residence in my command unit. I am going to try the flat knife technique as advised by Alfie, and fingers crossed it will worrk, other than that I feel I will have to dismantle the unit as you are about to.

Prior to snapping or breaking any trim I would be very appreciative if their is anyone out there with step by step guides to command unit removal, I have printed off the information on dismantling the unit but how do I get the command unit out with damaging anything. Thanks guys.:o

If you care to put up Your Email address I will send you the info

You can remove it shortly after

Television - have you any instructions on how to remove a Comand system from a 2006 SLK?

You need to start by removing the storage pockets above and below the comand unit, then any instruments between.
