Can anybody recommend somewhere that I can pick six fuel injectors up? Merc are quoting me just shy of 200 a piece. seems high.

not sure of Part No... does 0445 110 034 sound about right?

are they cylinder coded by the way?

part number for injector 0 445 110 095 (new) and 0 986 435 037 (restoration), not required code for injectors .

please see ebay de , search for "Mercedes Injektor" . price of one injector 95 eur

thanks Ronka30. Been quoted very low prices for injectors from the States but they're more generic parts than stuff you'd put your money on. gonna chase those parts you suggested. thanks.

re Injectors

Hi Englishdas.

I recently had two injectors changed by Mercserve.
They bought reconditioned injectors from MB. The cost was about £175+vat each.
If they are out the car the hardest bit is done. Mine had been messed about with so it was probably a good job Mercserve did the work.

If I was doing the job and they came out the car easy I would give your local Bosch Diesel service agent a call.
I saw a posting on here with a link to try.
I contacted my local depot in Mansfield Notts who quoted £75-150 to service the old injectors. They said that new injectors were way too expensive.

You will need new washers and they will need to be re-seated.

If I need to change more I will look at this option first.

My only consolation is that buying from MB they must have some kind of warranty.

Hope that helps.

Others will suggest Eurocarparts

Steve

I can get you some for £150ea including postage. Good quality Bosch too.

thanks chaps. will wait until the answers come back from the merc specialist tomorrow, then will chase up. i understand that in an ideal world all six would better be changed first, but is it the end of the world if they just change the ones showing damage/wear etc?

re Injectors

That depends of the total bill and if you can afford it.

My labour bill was £200+vat for 2.
If you triple that and add 6 x £150 for injectors.
Thats £1500+vat

It could be washers and seals though about £50

yep I was looking for the bright side as well.

regards

Steve

man i wish i could be that lucky, StevenN, I have a sneaky suspicion it'll get ugly.

UPDATE:

Phone call from the mechanic this morning, starting with the words "I need to have a word with you about this car, Das..." I'm thinking damn, New gearbox, Subframe, Wheels and Replacement Glass, the way he said it.

According to JAR's Mr Merc, the line of attack is an injector test, with possible replacement of one or more. If that's not the issue, it goes like this:

Fuel Rail Relay failure,

or

Fuel Rail Solenoid

or

Fuel Pump.

This sound right to anyone else? Seems logical to me but I know nothing. Sure didn't suprise me like Mr Merc made it sound. If it's the injectors I'll be over the moon. If it's one of the others on this list, I'll be disappointed, but nobody's died so happy days. Just wanna be able to drive it in the fast lane without it shutting down on me....eeek!

UPDATE No1200....

fuel filter off... full of brass.

probable cause is one or both fuel pumps (does this sound right, bearings falling apart?)

injectors not checked yet.

So i'm looking at both fuel pumps, plus a tank drop/empty/flush, and would I be right to assume a fuel filter change every other week til the lines are clear?

and then look at replacing the injectors, seeing as putting new ones on means they might just get knackered up over the next few months anyhow if the lines are still feeding the injectors with brass for a while?

honest opinion... would this be a repair job, or would you send it to the knackers yard?

I would just change the filter and then re-check it after a couple of weeks to see what is in there.

Thank you Olly. I notice that you put the very same suggestion on my other (related) thread. That's what I'm doing tomorrow, then calling it quits til I either get another major problem or re-check the filter. Shoulda listened to you sooner.

The expensive stuff is on the back burner. Driving round for the last 6 weeks with a gummed up fuel filter may mean i do notice some improvements when the good one goes on.

I really need to check stuff more often.

I think the fuel filter is due every 40,000 or 4 years on your car.
