W210 Heater booster old recall found.

As I found out during last week. Mine works and it kick in when its very cold (somewhere around 2deg) but I can see significent drop of MPG at the same time. But at least my car warms up engine in less then 10 miles - to bad it cost me fortune. Went down from 35mpg to 20-25mpg. Pros and cons - oh well... :dk::cool:

As above its electric, directly connected to the alternator. The unit heats the water. But it is only on the diesels. At this time of year it can take up to ten miles to get up to temp. I would expect your car to get hot a lot quicker than that.

im talking about heat in the cabbin lmao...il slip out the back

Sorry for late posting. I just read this tread. One day in the snow few weeks ago I just arrived home and parked my car . To my shock I saw some white smoke ( not steam coming near the cirulating motor after a few minutes after parking.also heard a whelling noise( like motor runing). This is the first time I played with the booter switch.
After a few minutes the smoke and the noise stopped. Could this be something to do with the booster heater ?

I have posted a similar thread recently about my W210 E 320 CDI 2003
The blower fan stops and starts to suit its self. When in both manual and Auto settings. The car is fitted with climate control so has a different blower risistor pack to those without climate control.
Do you think I am right in thinking that the resisitor pack is the problem ??
I was told that even if I plugged it into the Star diagnostic it would not show the resistor as being the problem only if the blower fan was not working

So anyone out there with a spare one please get in touch
the Merc part no A210 821 1651 Valeo part no 539 9879 830

Cheers all

That sounds like the diesel powered auxiliary heater.

what is the diesel powered auillary heater ? how does it work? does it uses the diesel fuel directly or is it just a special electric heater design for diesel cars?

My car is a 2000 and my heater booster does'nt work either, recently replaced my front plastic inner wheelarch liners and took down the heater unit to have a look at the wiring harness/plug,all seems fine must be faulty unit?
