I experience a loss of power after a battery disconnect reconnect. Why would this be? Does something need to be reset? I suspect my fuel level sender unit is alos malfunctioning since one a full tank it reads 3/4. The power to the engine is restored after I drive the vehicle for 20 km at low idle speeds 3000 rpm.

Sounds like limp mode but can't see how this is related to disconnecting the battery ....... unless you had to charge the battery because it is past it's sell by and it takes 20 clicks to get it back up to operating voltage.

Did you resolve this as I have the same problem, I had to change the earth lead due to heavy corrosion, when I put everything back together the car starts fine but I have no acceleration at all, is this the same as yours was?

Incidentally my fuel light is on not that it should make a difference.

I have also had this today. Last year I had a loss of power and it was the MAF sensor. I bought a new original sensor (Pierburg) and all was perfect.

Recently I had to disconnect the battery. On reconnecting, I got the usual ABS/BAS lights which I sorted by turning the steering from lock to lock. I also reconfigured the electric windows. Problem now is loss of power.

I took it for a drive this morning and it did kickdown at first but power was not 100% (engine was still cold). As I drove on and got to a clear stretch, I put my foot down to see if the power was still down and yes it was.

Seems to be very similar to when the MAF went, but has only happened since battery was reconnected.

Does the gearbox need to reconfigure/learn a harsh driving style?

It doesnt rev high when driving either. Will try cleaning the MAF just incase.

Incidently the work done when battery was disconnected was seat related and I did a hose and coolant change.

Small update....

I have taken the car for another drive and it seems to have improved 75%

It now kicks down and runs up to the rev limit, although it doesnt always kick down as it used to (it was more responsive before) however this is alot better than this morning. It also seems a little sluggish from standstill, not sure why. I have read that sometimes the W/S switch sticks but I'm sure it wouldn't perform the way it has if it was the switch.

Car was cold (around 50 degrees) when I drove it, Warmed up to temperature and still performed well @85 degrees
