W210 2003 Estate & W220 S500
Hi, everyone..

Well, I have reached the point where my disappointment in the lack of rust-proofing on my low-mileage, 52 plate, e240 estate has made me re-think my MB ownership, possibly reverting to my trusty old, rust-free Volvo estate days.......whilst I love the w210 for its ride and comfort, I am absolutely incensed at the lack of quality in the rust-proofing department of a "luxury" car, which cost the best part of £35k not toooooo many years ago. So, my questions to the wise and experienced among you; is the w211 a better bet than the w210 when it comes to rust issues and did they manage to get the rust issues sorted out by the 2004 and newer w211 models? I would dearly like to stay with my comfy sofa-ride, but not at any cost...and not with a crusty, rusty, scabby outside and underneath.
Thanks for any advice.

Better rust wise, but the ride (unless you have airmatic) is a bit firmer.

Galvanised ones still rust - just on the surface instead of through the panel.

Ive dont the other way, fancied a change from my trusty volvo's and bought a w211 53 s211 e320 cdi 82k and she has Zero rust ;)

W211 bonnet and front wings are aluminium, which is an improvement on the 210...

rust free

I have a 2006 e320 drives like a dream or if you want like a rocket, NO RUST AT ALL looks like it has just been made, i have had it now about 2 years and i am very fussy but the bodywork is great on top and under. Take your time and look for a nice one, anyone can buy a car with a dent in, so don't you, you can always put your own in if you want. Good Luck.
