I hoping someone here can shed light on an issue I have with my e class engine.
I've recently returned from holiday in Europe covering approx 800 miles towing my caravan MIRO 1250 (well within limits). The engine at approx 1200 - 1300 rpm judders and runs so roughly you think it will literally shake itself to bits. This can be felt through the car causing me and my passengers to wonder if its about to fail. Everything vibrates and produce symptoms similar to reach a rev limiter but significantly more severe.
When not towing the problem is much less noticeable though when travelling up a hill and therfore under load it again becomes noticeable
I had the same issue last year. My local dealers are pretty hopeless and charged me for a new airfilter and fuel filter saying this was the cause. The symptoms seemed to remain but significantly improved.
I never run the car to less than a 1/4 full and when towing abroad neve less than a 1/3rd so dirty fuel may have been acceptable as a cause last year but having the same situation again makes me wonde what the real cause is.
I've had 47 warranty issues and so MB gave me an additional years warranty so I believe whatever the cause should be covered?.
