W211 Audio 20 help needed please!

My 2003 W211 Audio 20 with CD had a blank screen since the weekend, but amazingly if you push the screen face or push the unit below the screen then it re-appears for a few seconds but then goes again .

Is it dead or could it be a wiring prob? Many thanks in advance to you clever bunch!

Id pop it out and strip it down - I would imagine there is a loose connection between the front and back sections.

You'll need a small torx driver to take the unit apart.

The lid for the cubby hole under my CD changer doesn't always slide up properly when I press to release it, and frequently sticks instead of gliding smoothly upwards. Now I can see how to get in there and sort it out!

Thats normally dirt in the mechanism or cables getting in the way where its been re-assembled badly !

With mine it is the sides of the console catching the lid at the top corner as it tries to lift. Try pulling outwards and see if it moves freely.

I hope it's dirt then - it hasn't needed to be re-assembled ever to my knowledge!

The cover over the cup holder glides beautifully and fluidly - shame this one does not match! Hopefully it will soon...
