Can anyone help me? I'm wanting to change my standard 2.0 stereo unit in my w211 but I would prefer it to not be aftermarket. What do I need to do to make my car compatable with a DVD navigation system? Or will it literally just slide in and work? Thanks in advance

Yes you certainly can change for a SatNav unit..
You have the choice of COMAND which is the one fitted as standard to MB. There is a good chance you will need a part loom and also some coding to be done via the STAR system..
Or
You could go for an aftermarket unit from someone like Pioneer, Kenwood or Alpine.
It depends on whether you want it to look original or not..

I had a COMAND NTG 2.5 retro fitted to my car (2005 C270 Cdi) by the people below.... I bought my unit via eBay and got them to fit it... Yes they are a long way from me (200 + miles) but they a pretty much the best in the business when it comes to anything COMAND or re coding the car..
Mercedes Comand Navigation and Audio Specialists

I suggest you contact them with your cars VIN number and ask any questions..
They will answer you better than I can.

Thanks I will contact them with my query. I've looked at an alpine unit with all the bells and whistles but I'd rather keep everything OEM.

Easiest to upgrade to the newer Comand NTG2.5 which was fitted to MY09 W211 rather than the older Comand NTG1 which would have been the option for your year car. Plenty of threads about this upgrade if you do a search.

Useful links to look at:

W211 last E, W219 CLS | COMAND Retrofit parts | Mercedes Retrofits | Comand Online Ltd
ntg2.5 (w219, w211) | eBay

You will need the Comand NTG2.5 unit, gps antenna, NTG2.5 wiring kit as on the 2nd link and STAR coding.
