w211 courtesy lighting

Hi.. got a problem with an e320 cdi, the interior lights don't come on when you open a door, or press the remote - the ambient lighting also doesn't work.

You can manually turn on the lights (& reading lights) front and rear, it's just the 'courtesy lights' that don't seem to be operating.

Has anyone come across this problem before?

has it ever 'worked'? could it by a setting in the settings menu?

Ted, you've hit the nail on the head.. It's seven years since I've owned a w211, but I can't remember the lights not working during daylight hours?

You live & learn...

As a side note this 2009 car strikes me as a far superior vehicle to the 2002 version we had & the v6 diesel goes like a mad thing!!
