Am I right in thinking if you replace them with the arnott ones you do away with the reservoir that is a potential for leaks?

Why not? Every thread I have found on it its all people recommend? And after a search found my own answer yes it gets rid of the reservoir

yes that's right it does away with the reservoir.

there must be some air pocket within the design of the arnot ones.

You must have searched real hard for your answer!
I was trying to hint that the oem set works far better. Go for the arnott set up

I have the Arnott rear bags and have had no issues that I'm aware of. Yes they do away with the extra vessels but don't know how that effects them.

How does it work better? Don't be sarcastic if you have a point make it?

After all the arnotts are remanufactured stock items... I can get the billstiene ones for similar price and they come with the tanks like stock but it means removing the rear subframe....

Every post or comment I have read on the arnotts people give them good reviews?

Lifetime warrantee sits well with me too!!!

Lifetime warrantee sits well with me too!!!

I am sure lifetime warranties only apply to customers who reside in the USA. At least it did when I purchased some for the front of mine.

Ok
So the reason for my original post was that from experience the arnott units do not seem to work as well as the oem set up. This is from fitting them on a few occasions.
On standard self levelling they seem absolutely fine. But when I have fitted them to cars with airmatic ( ie with the additional reservoir ) they never feel the same.
And one particular vehicle has had problems ever since with the rear vehicle level etc

Arnott now cover European Union too....

And that's interesting about the issues

I have Arnotts all round on mine, yes they do away with the reservoirs at the rear and no I haven't had any problems with either front or rear.
Operation/functions seems to be the same as OEM as far as I can tell, other than that I would say they feel a wee bit firmer but not conspicuously so.

Had the rears on for over a year (20,000 miles), fronts for about 5,000 miles. I think thye are a decent option. As with all these things, you pays your money you takes your choice...

I think what Terry was saying was that if you have internal leak in bag they are very hard to sort.

I have heard of couple of people with internal leaks which then meant refitting these and we all know how much of a Ball - ach rear bags are to fit.

To be honest though a standard bag can leak giving same hassle....

I'm going to order arnott front and rears tomorrow, rears don't seem that hard from what I can see??? Just hope I get some dry weather as I don't fancy fitting in the rain :(

Will let you know how I get on :)

The Arnott rear springs are not remanufactured. They don't use the old core units, unlike the fronts. Fitted several and never had problems. If your happy leaving the empty tank up in the arch you don't need to take the subframe off.
Eurocarparts now sell Arnott too.

Rear are defo harder to fit, they require Exhuast/Diff off etc.

Why in America do arnott offer money for stock rear cores then? I'm confused?

Anyway full set front and rear ordered should be here by weekend :)
