W211 Instrument cluster 'Basic display'

One thing which I'd like in the E Class, is the ability to display the digital speedo and the outside temperature reading simultaneously. According to P126 in my handbook, this facility lies within the 'Basic Menu' but is not available on UK specification vehicles.

Does anyone know why this display parameter is not enabled in the UK and if it is something which can be programmed via STAR?

It can be programmed. You need someone who knows STAR well.

Because the cluster has no KM display, MB have decided that we have to have it on the digital supply. Other manufacturers seem to be fine with a switchable supply.

Thanks, at least I can understand the reasoning behind that, but a switchable option would have been better.

yep programmable, cluster needs to be set to ROW (rest of world)

Will depend on the year of car. Later cars from about 2008 cant be done.

But then we have the dual mph and kph markings on the speedo.
