My 2004 W211 is fitted with the earlier Nokia 6310 holder. I want to use BT to connect a Blackberry into the car with the SAP v2 unit available (yes I know it's not an SAP phone but it will pair without the pin once setup)

The current Nokia holder with the curly lead is not the UHI type :( so I'm looking to change it but the Bradbrooks ? upgrade at £400 is too much.

Does anyone know of a kit I could get that I can fit myself?

You sure can but would it not be easier to get that bluetooth module that pretends to be the Nokia so it will work with your car instead? (name escapes me but it begins with a V)

Cheaper than any of the other options.

I have one of the latest v2 SAP BT adapters which I bought after a quick skim of the forum. Should have read a little deeper it seems as the car does not have the UHI system that this BT adapter needs to fit.

So just trying to decide if I pay more to swap over the bits to make it UHI by calling a few breakers etc. I assume it needs the insert of the armrest and a replcement of one of the many black boxes to do this. Or I sell the BT adapter I have and pay more for the ViseeO adapter.

Both options will cost more and I'm kind on concerned that leaving a ViseeO adapter in the car is an expensive (£400) bit of kit really. True it is in the armrest or I could take it with me but that kind of defeats the object of simply getting in and driving.

Anyone gone the UHI upgrade route with breaker sourced parts?

Didn't Richard have a lot of info on the UHI upgrade too?

Can you post your BT device part number, is it the SLR puck or the one with the privacy handset?

It's the version they refer to as the SLR design, part number A2048200535. I went for the version 2 device as it supported more than 1 phone, better phone book suport and also didn't ask for the pin each time you got in the car.

I went the UHI upgrade route about 18 months ago for my Jan'04 W211. I sourced the parts via eBay in Germany (Main phone controller and UHI contact plate) and my local Dealer (felt insert for arm rest, MB tape, wires, and various connectors).

Had the ViseeO solution been available, then I would most likely have gone with that.

I hate to say this, but Blackberry doesnt support SAP - the HFP cradle works well with Blackberry and I recommend HFP cradle if you have UHI and a MOST based car (i.e comand aps with DVD not CD).

If you have the older fixed system, buy a ViseeO cradle from www.comandonline.co.uk - that works with Blackberry (Alfie can confirm that for sure though) and saves you the cost of changing out bits of your phone system also.

The UHI parts + a HFP or SAP cradle will cost more than the ViseeO i'm afraid - a lot more for new parts.

Cheers
Richard

I have tested Viseeeeeeoooooooo with a Blackberry and it certianly works well and downloads the phone book.

Thanks for all the feedback, the SAP support I know is not available for the Blackberry, I had to find this out on the web as Blackberry couldn't answer the question. I went for the SAP device over the HFP for a little bit of future proofing really and that it could hold it's own sim if needed.

Alfie, just a quick question the ViseeO downlaods the contacts but did I read that it stops at 300 or will it read more?

Looks like I'll have to go that route but will need to wait until after Christmas to lay my hands on £400.
