W212 in the snow

First few drives after passing my test are my W124 300D Auto.... so far no real wobblies, just take things easy and the car seems to do alright

winter mode??? what is this witchcraft!

The Crossfire has 'S' and 'W' modes as in the seasons, and now the Mercs have 'Comfort' and 'Sport'.

I guess it's just a sign of the times.

As I understand it, the winter mode always sets off in second gear, not first, so often useful for getting away on the slippy stuff.

Not sure the same happens in Comfort mode, but guess it does if you're not too heavy with the right foot.

my box doesn't have any switches.... mums petrol estates have standard and economy but mine just has nothing  think the default on these tho was to pull off in second, kick down chucks it into first...... i will have a read of mums manual when i next see her, my car didnt come with one :wallbash:

My E55 Has been superb, matched with the Vredestein Wintrac Extreme tyres I have not got stuck anywhere. Getting out of this farm in the Northumberland hills nearly got me though, through sheer depth of snow, traction however was superb,I never troubled the ESP:rock:
Took this just before we set off, I had cleared the car 10 mins earlier...and had to do it all again!
