Hello everybody.

I was wondering if anyone on here has had the same problem (or similar), or can help me out for the reason of the issue, but recently my 03 CL500 has developed a bit of an iffy climate control. Basically if I put the fan on full power, not much happens. If i put the air con on, I can feel cold air coming into the car, but it doesn't matter what setting I have the fan on, it just seems to seep into the car instead of being forced in by fans...

Im hoping it's just the fan that is faulty, maybe a fuse?

Any help with this would be very much appreciated as it keeps steaming up on these warm rainy days...

Thanks

Id say it needs a top up.

Drove to a friends house tonight, about a 35 mile round trip, as soon as it started to rain the whole car fogged up so I couldn't see. Had to drive with sunroof on tilt and windows open.

Also noticed I can no longer turn the air con on - is this because of a blocked pollen filter?

Surely if it was an AC leak, the fans would still blow, just warm air instead of cold AC air? This produces nothing more than a weak breath of air - which is why im starting to think maybe it a blocked/knackered pollen filter. Either way, i've asked the garage doing the MOT to change the filter too while its there. Fingers crosses it passes the MOT and sorts out this issue, otherwise it could be an expensive day.

So, car came back from MOT, passed with only a couple of advisories for the rear tyres (standard) but he said there was no point in changing the filter or looking into that, as there were a bigger problem to see to first - then he opened the passenger door and showed me the 1inch deep puddle in the footwell...

Any one know of any common leaks for these that could result in the water getting into the footwell?

Im hoping that once i've found and fixed the leak, I can either clean up the blower regulator or worst case buy a new one (MB quoted me £262 for one) and it should all be fixed...

Fingers crossed!

Here's the well:

blimey i was out a mile! start in the engine bay for missing grommets id say.

So i've managed to get out to the car in a short break in the rain and I can see that the bit in the below image is pretty much full of water:

Am I right in thinking I need to take this out, unclog it all behind it etc... and then also dry out all the cabling that has got wet in the passenger foot well?

What is the best way to get the carpet up and get to the blower regulator etc...?

Unclip the gauze. At the bottom of the intake (which is under the gauze) there is a rubber bung which is blocked solid. The mod is to pull it out and throw in the bin!!!!!!!
You will also need to clear the front drains out properly.
The carpet problem is something you need to address now as the can connector lies in conduit under there as do many z connectors which will no doubt in coming months start to cause all sorts of problems for you.
The blower and reg are probably already full of water and buggered, but looking at that carpet the climate issue is the least of your worries.
The carpet needs to come out, the conduit opening up, and the extent of water damage investigated before your car starts giving all sorts of unwanted electrical problems

I managed to get all the water and sludge out and it is no longer blocked. As for the interior, it couldnt happen at a worse time as i just dont have the time to address the problem myself, im in meetings until the end of the week...

This morning I went back to check the car after a heavy shower last night and no more water has got into the car which is good, and I've whacked a dehumidifier in the footwell which im going to leave for a couple days so it can dry out. Booked the car for an inspection at my local specialist mid next week so fingers crossed it's not a complete disaster! In the mean time i'll be rolling about in the even more fuel hungry Range Rover...
