I know this is an old thread, however I feel my experiences regarding the W220 2.5 command system may be of use to some.
1st my car is a 1999 model year.
2nd my command 2.5 firmware was the original as installed.
3rd the tele atlas disc in the CD drive was 1999, so way out of date.
On start up I had the yellow/blue screen with warnings about obeying highway code blah blah.
The FIRMWARE update required was Service CD MY 2001.
When the firmware was updated, I noticed I had a Mercedes logo on start up, and also a DX symbol in the bottom right corner.
I then purchased the latest and apparently the last update for my command regarding maps.
Its United Kingdom and Europe mapping 2013/2014, for Blaupunkt DX and comes with two CD's. One for UK and Ireland and one for Europe.
I now have a fully up to date command.
Remember the system was designed back in 1995, so if your using the latest Tom Tom or Garmin stand alone systems with 3D graphics don't even begin to try to compare your command with these more modern systems.
Its nice to have a built in Sat Nav as originaly fitted.
But the graphics are dated, and the upgrades whilst giving you accurate mapping wont do much more.
The system is very good though, age accepted.
I hope this info helps.
